Ol' Moose & Friends

Ol’ Moose began performing in his late teens in New England playing harmonica for country blues players such as George Gritzbach, Chris Kleeman, and Larry Johnson. In college, he played in the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band with well-known singer-songwriters John Gorka and Richard Shindell, and with Pennsylvania folk artist Russ Rentler. During his nearly forty years of university philosophy teaching, Moose played solo and with a variety of bands, including Philbilly Cadillac in State College, PA and the Bone Dry River Band in southern Illinois. He also played banjo and harmonica for the travelling punkabilly band County Graves at venues in Chicago, Kansas City, and St. Louis.  For twelve years, he played the local circuit in southern Illinois, and he recorded three cd’s of original tunes during that time. From 2016 to 2019, he played with the trio Merry J. Pranksters in Denton, TX. After retiring from academia, Moose moved back to New England landing in Weston, CT. He has been settling into the local music scene and for the last year and a half has played with his local trio that includes Alysia Love on violin and multi-instrumentalist Dan Bonis, longtime sidekick of folk artist Terence Martin.
